You know, I’m amazed that in all my time on tumblr, I’ve never seen a single post appreciating this lady. I mean, do you realise what is happening here? This is clear and casual acceptance of gender non-conformity in mainstream media. And not only is this in Doctor Who, with an audience of millions and millions of people worldwide, but it’s also set in the future, implying that progress is not only spaceships and interplanetary colonisation, but also in the way of acceptance of identity outside the gender binary. So yeah, let’s take a moment to appreciate the awesome lady in Doctor Who that was totally chill about trans* folk without making a big show of it. You go, girl*! |

Listening to this bit was depressing. The Doctor starts talking about how important pain and loss is to one’s identity, and to remind Charlie of how much she’s lost by being trapped in the Divergent Universe, he says this bit. Remember, this is Eight talking, and soon enough, these same words will apply to him. He shall be the last of his kind, he won’t be able to fall in love with anyone like him, he won’t be able to marry, raise a family, or even loom descendants. He will be alone, utterly alone, without family or friends… oh no I think I just made myself cry. |

Can you imagine how difficult this must have been for the Doctor? Susan’s not just a Companion, she’s family. And he didn’t have to come to terms with losing her because of something he couldn’t control. No, he had to willingly let go so she could be happy. |

the most exciting part about the whole John Hurt thing is that in addition to an old actor in New Who (finally!), an incredibly exciting storyline has just been made possible. ‘Cause if 11 is actually the 12th incarnation of the Doctor, then he’s going to go all evil and Valeyard-y before/right after he regenerates. How absolutely fantastic and brilliant is that?!? :D |

What kills me here is how much hate there is in Eleven’s voice here. In his expression. Everything about him speaks of how much he despises Him. How much he hates himself. And that’s why Nine was always so moody, And that’s why Ten lost his temper the way he used to. And that’s why Eleven went through that phase. The only thing that makes me feel worse is thinking that if his future regenerations hate Him so much, what must He think of Himself? He tries to defend himself, but the words sound empty and hollow, and his eyes look dead. How much torment is being carried inside Him? |
